Notes

  • Teams in parenthesis are projected. Teams without parenthesis in BCS bowls have clinched BCS berths, but not necessariliy for the game in which they are listed. Teams without parenthesis in non-BCS bowls have accepted bids to that game.

  • Conference tie-ins are listed for each game. In the case of the BCS games, those bowls could lose their tie-in teams to the title game. If that happens, that bowl can choose any BCS-eligible team to replace the team it lost and is not required to select one from the same conference as its tie-in.

In the case of non-BCS games, if there is a team listed that does not belong to the conference affiliated with that game, that means I am predicting that conference to not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill that spot.

  • A note about bowl order within a conference - except for the champion, they do not necessarily relate directly to conference standings. For example, in the Big Ten, the Capital One bowl gets the second choice of teams from the Big Ten. They are not required to take the second place team. Conference tiebreakers are meaningless. Other things like TV appeal, fan interest, how recently a team has appeared in a bowl have more bearing than conference standings, within some reasonable parameters that vary from bowl to bowl.

    Contingency agreements:

  • ACC: Kraft Fight Hunger
  • Army: Armed Forces (2010), Military (2010)
  • Big 12: Military (2011 only), TicketCity (2011, 2013)
  • C-USA: TicketCity (2010, 2012), Military (2011-13)
  • MAC: St. Petersburg
  • Sun Belt: Little Caesar's, Birmingham, St. Petersburg
  • Notre Dame: Pinstripe (for Big 12).
  • WAC: Poinsettia (2010, 2013)

Bowls with rotating or shared assignments (2010-13):

  • Armed Forces: C-USA (2010-12), Navy (2013).
  • Big East will play in two of Birmingham, Liberty and St. Petersburg each years, with no minimum commitment to any of them and no apparent process for determining which two in any given year.
  • Champs Sports: May select Notre Dame once in place of a Big East team.
  • Military: CUSA (2010), Navy (2011), Army (2012), Big 12 (2013)
  • Kraft Fight Hunger: Army (2011), Navy (2012)
  • Poinsettia: Navy (2010), WAC (2011-12), Army (2013)
  • TicketCity : Big 12 (2010, 2012), C-USA (2011, 2013)

    Selection order notes:

  • Armed Forces, New Mexico: Bowls will work for best regional selection of Mtn West team.
  • MAC sends first choice to Little Caesar's in 2010 and 2012, and to the GMAC bowl in 2011 and 2013.
